While the principles of grounding and shielding are easy to understand, I think the actual practice tends toward a black art. I like to use ferrite cores as my "magic charms". I had to install one in my first VCR as it did a better job of being a FM radio than playing a tape.

Unfortunately

Most of (if not all) our buildings have more than one ground. Even the AC pad will act as a differential ground.
