Self-Reliance Group

Post by bakebread »

Recently called to be a self-reliance specialist. Tried to add a new group, through QuickReg (old system) but got the following message:

"New Group
QuickReg was recently updated and improved. To access the new QuickReg 2.0 system and create new groups, please go to https://quickreg.churchofjesuschrist.org. If you have existing groups in this version of QuickReg, you may continue to access this system to finish out existing groups already entered."

When I follow the link, there appears to be no way of adding groups. Nobody in my stake seems to know why.

As it has been a couple of days since your post without any responses, it may be that other active Forum members aren't aware of any details about this new system. One thought I had is that although you've been called as a specialist, you might not be visible in whatever database the QuickReg system uses to identify "Editors". And as you state, there isn't any link or other info in the new webpage, for getting in touch with somebody for support.

I'm not personally familiar with how the self-reliance program is organized, but it seems like each stake has somebody called to manage things at the stake level (might even be a High Councilor). And I would hope that they in turn have some kind of regional or area contact they can get in touch with. My thoughts is that there probably are resources for the new QuickReg system, but the rollout happened before the corresponding help docs were shared, so it's a matter of contacting a high-enough person that will know about that.

I'm meeting with a regional contact this evening; hopefully, he can figure out how to solve the access problem. I'll post the results later.

I was also trying to figure out access to QuickReg. Per the training, permission is based on specific standard callings. Do you have one of the standard callings that give access?

There is a group setup under the class code QR0183612. I cannot see the people who have registered for this class and their contact information. I am the facilitator.

This is strictly user-to-user support. I don't know as anyone here has experience in the self-reliance group class. You may want to ask your leaders for support contacts.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I have a related issue and don't have permission to to create a new topic. My stake is in the process of calling a stake self reliance facilitator. My concern is getting him access to QuickReg to create and manage the class. QuickReg resouces provide a list of callings that have been granted permission to QuickReg, including District Self Reliance Facilitator, Ward Self Reliance Facilitator, and Branch Self Reliance Facilitator. https://www.englishconnect.org/quickreg ... g-quickreg My question is why isn't Stake Self Reliance Facilitator also included on the list. Is the list our of date, or it is simply an oversight?

According to the link the "Stake Welfare and Self-Reliance Specialist" has access. Make sure they have that calling recorded as a standard position. Any messing with the title means it's a custom position and custom positions do not get rights. Once recorded, it may take a day or so before they have access.

Thanks for your feedback. There are actually two Self Reliance callings at the stake level. Stake Self-Reliance Specialist and Stake Self-Reliance Facilitator. The specialists help train the facilitatros as part of the Stake Self Reliance Committee. The facilitators are the ones who facilitate the various self reliance meetings. There can be multiple facilitators at the stake and ward levels. They all work under the stake specialist. Since the Stake Facilitator is the one directly involved with the students, this person would need access to QuickReg as well. Otherwise the Specialist becomes an unnecessary middleman between the facilitator and students (creating classes, enrolling students, printing certificates), all of which tasks can be done by a facilitator at the district/ward/branch level, but apparently not at the stake level. I'll know for sure one he is called and put in the systems as a facilitator.

I'd double-check that they exist as a standard position. "Stake Self-Reliance Facilitator" is not mentioned in any of the material I scanned. It was added to LCR 10 years ago, but that doesn't mean it's still there.

All I can go by is what the documentation says, and that page doesn't list "Stake Self-Reliance Facilitator". It might be a documentation error, an oversight, or the position has been deprecated.

Either way, this forum is primarily user-to-user support. It's not going to do much to change things. If you're not the stake clerk, I'd have him follow up with support to figure things out.
