How to search for mission language for members>

Post by annehellewell »

We have someone who moved into our ward that speaks a foreign language. We are trying to figure out how to search for members who served a mission that would speak their language in our ward and stake. How can we do that? We need to see if there are any nearby members who speak tagalog.

An assistant ward clerk for membership can see for a given member what that member's mission language was. A bishop or ward clerk should have the same ability. I would guess that bishop's counselors might have the same access. However, that would require looking at each member's profile, so it would take a lot of time.

There might be a way to do a custom report in LCR to search for it. IIUC, I don't have access to custom reports, so I can't test whether mission language is available. You might try search for posts in the forum to see whether custom reports can be based on mission language.

Yes, mission language and mission country are filters available for a custom report (Create a Report). Unfortunately, Tagalog and Filipino are not listed in the languages list. Selecting the mission country as a filter may be helpful to find Tagalog speaking return missionaries since Philippines is in the list of missionary countries.
