FHAR availability

Post by wrigjef »

Does anyone else think that it would be helpful for the FHAR to be available to family history consultants? The rest of our T&FH committee have access because of their callings, but the consultants couldn't find it so i checked the access tables and sure enough, a family history consultant doesn't have access to the family history activity report. Is this an oversight? I know the feedback link on a church webpage is the method to request a change, but I also know that more voices are better than one.

The reason I've heard is that the FHAR isn't responsible for those numbers. They're a resource, but not responsible. The T&FH is responsible.

It shouldn't be a matter of responsability. Access to the report would just give consultants an indicator of where to focus efforts. As a T&FH leader, I Dont have responsibility for temple recommends but I can still see how many have them.

However, looking over the duties of the T&FH leader, it seems like it would be a good idea to know who has a recommend and who doesn't so you know who you can approach when organizing a temple activities.

Access to the report would just give consultants an indicator of where to focus efforts.
25.2.4: "Ward temple and family history consultants serve under the direction of the ward temple and family history leader."

They should be getting direction, not interpreting reports. The desire to magnify one's calling is admirable, but the leadership should have a common focus in doing the work and not have everyone executing their own interpretation.

Edit: at the risk of oversimplification; leaders lead, consultants teach.
