Marriage record doesn't have date of marriage

Post by LRChoquette »

Looking at the undated "Civil Marriages" source attached to G4TS-5NM Karl Alfred Sørensen, there's no date, not even just a year for the marriage. I could understand perhaps a missing birthdate for one or both parties getting married, or other missing tangential info, but did the original recordkeepers really create a record for a marriage without writing down its date? Even if it's an implied date because all the marriages on that day were entered one after the other in a big book? Is FamilySearch not even able to suggest a range of possible years for the marriage based on what page the original record is on?

Since this is an index, not the actual record, it may not be listed in chronological order. The date is probably recorded in the main record. But that's not what this source is.

If you look at the source details, you can find that the Image Group Number (DGS) is 101100359. If you search in the Catalog, you can learn that this DGS corresponds to Aug 30, 1937 to Dec 31, 1937. So at least you can tell that the wedding banns were in late 1937.
