web audio control placement

I love studying the scriptures & conference talks online. I often like to read along while the audio playing. I also like to stop to take notes, highlight, answer the phone, door, husband, etc. As of now, the audio control is located at the top of the talk/article and scrolls beyond the field of vision as you scroll down the page. If I want to pause, I have to scroll back up to the top of the page, often losing my place in the text. My work-around has been to open the page in two tabs. Use one tab for reading, one for listening. It would be nice if the audio control could live on the sidebar or anyplace that it is still visible & useable while scrolling down the page thus allowing the user to only require one tab. Is this do-able?
