PAF to Google Maps API script?

Post by arturner-p40 »

I'd like to create a visualization with push-pins of where all of my ancestors were born. Before I start working on something, I was wondering if anyone else had worked on something similar?

The key features that I'm looking for are to scrape the birth place and date from PAF/GED, then post to a world-wide map, where each push pin is coded with the century that they person was born in, with pedigree termination points in Red.

Any pointers to similar projects are appreciated.

I'm not sure of any free options, but Legacy (deluxe edition), RootsMagic both seem to contain mapping functions. For standalone, there's Family Atlas and Map My Family Tree. (I'm probably missing some.) While they are all commercial software, they are FamilySearch partners so the programs are available free for use in a FHC.
