Church owned ZOOM accounts require a passcode for all meetings
I just noticed the church owned accounts require a passcode for all meetings. Is there anyway around this. I have a hard time getting members just clicking the link to access meetings

The password can be changed to something simple. You don’t have to use the generated password.
The password feature was a security device implemented by Zoom, late last year. Nothing to do with the church.

Thanks Biggles!!! I have change the password to 1234.
Are you confirming this is a requirement from the church?

My personal account does not require a passcode for meetings, any ideas why?Biggles wrote:The password can be changed to something simple. You don’t have to use the generated password.

No as I mentioned it was Zoom who added the password. I believe as an additional security measure. Probably a bit late now, but not a good idea to publish any passwords. This forum is open to the public.miketorg wrote:Thanks Biggles!!! I have change the password to 1234.

Thanks again!! As far as publishing the password we have a great Sunday School teacher, anyone in the public should jump on an hear him. lolBiggles wrote:miketorg wrote:

ZOOM FAQ Meetings Waiting Room and Passcode Requirements, September 27, 2020
Overview
Starting September 27, Zoom will require that all meetings have a Passcode or a Waiting Room enabled for accounts with a single licensed user, Pro accounts with 2 or more licenses, and Business accounts with 10-100 licenses. For more information, contact your Customer Success Manager or Zoom support. You’re in control of your meeting security selections, and we have designed the options with security and ease of use in mind.
Note: Meeting passwords (passcodes) are already enforced for all free accounts. For Zoom for Government accounts with fewer than 100 licenses, Passcodes or Waiting Rooms will be required on December 13, 2020.

You probably use a waiting room and have to let participants into the meeting. If you do not, a passcode is now required.miketorg wrote:My personal account does not require a passcode for meetings, any ideas why?

Re: Church owned ZOOM accounts require a passcode for all meetings
According to the Zoom documentation, by default, passcodes are included in the share URL for a meeting.

So, if users are accessing the meeting by clicking a link, they shouldn't need to type a passcode.
This makes me question how useful a passcode really is, if it's shared with the link anyway...

Re: Church owned ZOOM accounts require a passcode for all meetings
We have been using the embedded passcode in our Zoom meeting links, which is very convenient for members. It's definitely the right thing to remove or lessen "tech barriers" for members who are intimidated by our new virtual church environment. But I've found that in our unit, many members who complained about the "multi-step" process of accessing meetings, are still not attending even when we provide a simple one-click experience. Kind of like those who say they can't attend in-person because they have no transportation, yet when you offer to pick them up, they're always not able to attend that week...
