Calendars not updating on the Tools app

Post by Nawgoo »

not all our events are displaying on the tools app. This is happening across the Stake, President and Bishops can't see events on the stake calendar on the tools app that are visible on the website. Im subscribed to the right calendars and their display is turned on in the app. When I went to check the subscriptions I get : "Warning Calendar Services are unavailable. The calendar will not show any events. Please try again later." But i've tried days later with same result.

It seems to be working for me now, which is surprising because for a long time it didn't. The last time it happened, I think I had to uninstall/re-install.

One caution I'd have is to make sure the events are not recorded on the location calendar, which usually doesn't sync to devices.

Also, in my experience (Android) the calendar in Member Tools hardly ever updates automatically. I almost always have to go to the Calendar page and pull down to force a reload to see recently added events on my mobile phone.

It appears this same issue has returned with the latest version of the app. Some stake meetings are showing on the tools app, but none of the stake activities. I cannot see any settings that are off. It has caused some issues in some wards planning activities over the top of stake planned activities. Members of the presidency have android and iphones. It seems to be an issue with both platforms. It does not appear to be an installation issue as we have uninstalled and re-installed the tools app.

Can you elaborate? Perhaps the meetings were scheduled a long time ago or they're on a separate calendar. But the system itself is blind to the difference between an "activity" and a "meeting". There's only "events".

I assume you're talking about a conflict in the sense that both meeting/activities are for the same group of members and not a conflict in the sense that two events are trying to occupy the same room at the same time.

The system has nothing to prevent conflicting events such as a stake RS meeting at the same time as a ward family event. It's up to the leadership to make sure they have turned on all relevant calendars to see any such conflicts.

One possibility is that someone is scheduling the activities using the location calendar instead of the regular calendar. The location calendar is not available on Android. I'm not sure if it is on iOS. When it was available on Android, it didn't work.

By chance, did you get a new building scheduler? By default, building schedulers do not have rights to add events to any calendars except the location they are responsible for.

The GSC told me a few weeks ago that they are aware of not all events showing on the member app calendar and that hopefully the issue would be resolved by the end of June. It is a real problem.

Russell...
Just jumping on here to add my context, in case you have the ability to talk to someone "who knows."

Similar to what this thread discusses:
https://tech.churchofjesuschrist.org/fo ... 47#p250747

Same issue here - realize this isn't the official Help channel... but am really hopeful this gets resolved. For the last 4-5 days, I have had significantly degraded calendar performance (or complete non-performance). Have tried 4 devices, 3 diff browsers, and also several other users to test if it was a "my account" issue.
Have also deleted all my browsing history, cached content, cookies, etc. for "all time" in my browsers too...
It's an endless "give us a moment" loading loop - no matter the tech-set that I attempt to use.

Thanks,
Byron
