I have been called as a "Ward Historian" but not sure why not a "specialist". Ward histories haven't really been done in our unit before except when prompted by stake and then only partially if at all; everybody seemed confused by it.
I was asked to do 2022 and 2023 and set up systems so someone else could take over from me as I am moving in 2024. I've almost completed 2022 and will be asking shortly for reports for 2023.
My first question is about the timeline. I have not seen a "due date" for submission of the stake or district histories. What time lines exist or are best practice?

Assuming your calling has been recorded for more than a day or two and was recorded as a standard (rather than custom) calling, if you go to the 9-dot menu in the upper right-hand corner of most any page -> All Resources -> My Calling, it will likely show you some training materials and/or a General Handbook section that might answer that question.

Thanks for answering. For some reason, despite requests, my calling is still not recorded at all. I did find training materials though but haven't found any due dates; perhaps there aren't any? Do you happen to know where the due dates for other clerk responsibilities are recorded? I know from other callings I've had, that there are due dates for entering data.

In my experience, the stake clerk provides due dates for things needed relating to the ward history. I have also seen that different stakes set different due dates. You or your ward clerk should query the stake clerk on due dates.
In your position, I would reach back to whomever issued the call and ask why it has not been recorded yet. You might remind him that until it is recorded, you will be hampered in your efforts to fulfill the calling due to lack of access to the appropriate systems.
