I am a stake clerk and have questions about the mission office audit that we need to provide an auditor for. A brother that used to conduct this audit passed away in 2022. A sister on the audit committee completed the audit last year and told me that it took her 8 hours to complete it. That just seemed absurd to me but I had only her experience to go on as the brother who passed had done the audit for many years. I plan to attend the audit this year as an observer in an attempt to determine if there is something in the way the mission office is managing their finances that is making the audit unnecessarily difficult/time consuming. The questions I have for everyone here are as follows:
- Has anyone among you conducted the audit in recent years?
- If so, what was your experience?
To be clear, I'm not in any way doubtful of this sister's capability to efficiently conduct an audit. She presently conducts the stake audits and is both efficient and thorough. She also provides backup to unit audits when a potential exception needs to be evaluated.
Thanks to all for any input provided.

Re: Mission office audit
I did a mission office audit quite a few years ago, prior to the on-line audit system. It took well over 8 hours, actually I remember going there multiple times to complete it. The mission audit is quite comprehensive and covers a lot of areas a ward or branch would not have to deal with.rjamesh77 wrote: Mon Jan 29, 2024 7:45 am I am a stake clerk and have questions about the mission office audit that we need to provide an auditor for. Re: Mission office audit
I have been doing the Mission Audit now for the last 10 years. The first time it took me over 8 hours and a couple of trips. One thing that makes it tough is that you are going over a year's worth of information. Also, when they change their Financial Secretary adds to the complication during their first year. Currently it takes me 3 to 4 hours to do their audit. Also they keep revising the audit and it not done like a Wards audit which is all online.
