Using Calendar as a Fluid System to Notify

Post by carmacklradl »

Would like to use Calendar entries as means of communicating events / changes / additional information.

For Example:

Original Calendar Item: District Speaking Assignments on the calendar for the 3rd Sunday in each Month (functions well)
4 weeks away from event: Add speaker assignments (functions well)
Hit and miss: Change assignments as needed (functions well)

Desire:

Specific members only (Presidency and Speakers) need to know all three of those steps.

Question:

How can I (through feature or work around) keep District Speakers aware of evolving assignments (edits) on the Original Calendar Item.

I know the calendar system can send emails about upcoming events. I don't know as it will send emails about edits.

However, it's up to the users to select to receive emails from the calendar. There's nothing the calendar editor to can do to force the situation.

My experience has been the emails about events are hit and miss. Does not at all seem like something one should rely on.

Thanks for the thoughts. New to a rural district where communication is limited and really need to find WORKAROUNDS or features like GMAIL has to PUSH notification to the users. I willl continue to pursue the idea.

Keep in mind that if the recipient doesn't want it, then you become a spammer. That's probably why the calendar is set up that way with the recipient in control. It could use an invite function
