Endowed from on high temple prep teacher's manual
We have been called to teach this class. This is the manual given. It needs to be updated. The information in the manual is severely outdated. Many of the things taught in the manual are not taught or done in the temple anymore. We even found a quote that cannot be found in the source given. "Preparing to Enter the Holy Temple" student handout has the same problem. Please update.

Those sound like good ideas, but the forum is basically just user-to-user discussion. Nobody here has authority or ways to make any official updates to materials. I'd suggest two options to get your suggestions to people who can consider making updates:
- Ask your stake president to raise your suggestions up his chain of command.
- Send feedback on the Church website.

Re: Endowed from on high temple prep teacher's manual
I've been looking over the "Endowed from on High" manual and I can't find anything that is incorrect due to recent changes. Perhaps you could enlighten me?
As for the "Preparing to Enter the Holy Temple" booklet, the only thing that I found that contradicts current practice is the bit about family members being unable to attend the temple to see the temple wedding. It was formerly the case that couples were encouraged to be married in the temple itself, and if they had a civil marriage instead they had to wait a year to be sealed. That policy no longer applies, so, yes it is inaccurate.
But I would like to point out that in many countries, it never reflected reality. In the UK, for instance, lawful weddings must occur in public to be valid. And must be overseen by a government official (a registrar), who sees to it that the bride and groom sign a register before the marriage is official. In Germany all marriages are solemnized at a government office. After that, the couple would go to the temple to be sealed. So, non-member parents would be perfectly capable of seeing their child married, and thus that entire section devoted to helping non-member relatives deal with their exclusion from the wedding never applied. But the pamphlet never indicated any exceptions, possibly because most members lived in the US, which is no longer the case. And is the likely reason the policy changed.
They will fix this eventually. It doesn't seem to be very urgent.

Ya, this isn't what this board is all about, we don't do curriculum development. You might ask whoever called you to this call what you should do.DZara wrote: Sun Jun 15, 2025 11:12 am We have been called to teach this class. This is the manual given. It needs to be updated.
